Clarity for Charity

Members of the team do their bit for two well-deserving charities

Race The Sun

Richard Gamlin, MD of Touch Systems took on a huge Challenge in September to raise money for Action Medical Research a charity dedicated to eliminating premature delivery and defects in children at birth.

Team "GRIP" set themselves an ambitious 8 hours to cover the 65 mile man powered journey including cycling, climbing and canoeing, where the whole team had to pass all check points along the way. They actually finished in 7hrs 49mins and finished in 2nd place out of 65 teams!

Richard commented afterwards 'This was a big test. We trained hard and the feeling of elation and exhilaration as we crossed the line was highly emotional as this took every ounce of our energy to complete the course. 4 hours in to the event, we realised we had a chance of winning, so stepped up the pace to chase down the leaders. But they were too good for us with a combined 53 years younger than us! So I am more than happy to have just completed the course within target and raise £3,500 for such a great cause. Thank you very much to all those who made a donation'.

Home2Rome - Vinyl-Wrapped Probe tours Europe

This summer our very own David Steward embarked on an epic rally across Europe called 'Home2Rome' raising money for Charity and taking in some unique sights.

David from our Clarity development team signed up to 'Home2Rome' Europe's largest banger rally. A 5-day drive across Europe from Calais to Rome taking in stops and cities made famous by the Grand Tour once popular in the 17th Century.

The rules of the rally dictate all teams have to buy a car worth no more than £150. David and his teammate acquired a 2.5L v6 Ford Probe nicknamed the 'Probe-le-Rome' for exactly £150, with a bit of work and some custom artwork the Probe was ready for the start line.

Many thanks go to Xtreme Graphics who kindly printed the vinyl artwork for the Probe on a tight deadline. Although wacky decoration is almost mandatory for all entries, the Probe-le-Rome stood out and was greatly admired!

Probe-le-Rome set out first thing on Monday morning with the 45 other teams to a cacophony and convoy of sirens, strobe lights and car horns. The route channelled the team through some of the most beautiful driving roads and scenery in Europe through Monaco, Menton, Milan, Lake Como, Bormio, Verona and Venice.

Finally after days of seeing other teams fall by the wayside, breathtaking scenery, overcoming mechanical adversity and the unremitting 35 degree heat, David's team successfully arrived in Rome at midnight almost to the second.

With the help of family, friends and colleagues over £450 was raised for the deaf and blind Charity Sense while enjoying media coverage from local newspapers, BBC Radio and across the web. Thank you kindly to all who donated to a fantastic charity.
